To facilitate the ascent, one could also use a wooden ladder with 62 steps and a height of 60-70m. But going up with this ladder was always difficult and through the centuries it had been neglected and had suffered damages, so ascending was problematic. Only a small part of is still saved.

Nowadays, one can reach the monastery easily by climbing up 80 steps carved on the rock, constructed in 1932-36.
