The Monastery of Saint Nikolaos Anapafsas:

 It is not yet certain where the Monastery took its name from. In all probability, it was named after some old founder, who should be located somewhere around the 14th century, the same time that monastic life appeared on this rock for the first time.Others find a relationship between this name and the etymology of the verb "anapavome" (rest), so the name must imply a place for relaxation and recreation. This also explains the other name of the Monastery, "Asmenos", that is a joyful place, pleasant to stay at. |
